The fourth ranking tournament weekend of the 2024-25 season.

The first competition of the weekend was the Winmau Classic.

The Quarter Finals we had some great battles

Kurt Vandekerckhove 79.11 average with 20 18 and 19 dart legs defeating Steve North 3-0.

Michael Callaghan 3 Lee Dagnell 1 with Lee hitting a great 17 dart leg.

David Johnson 67.98 ave beating Paul Gelder 3-1.

Jon Hirst 3 Sally Evans 1.

The semi finals and we had two fantastic clashes.

Jon Hirst started off on fire, but missed a great opportunity to break early after a few missed darts at doubles, Mike took the leg and then made it 2-0 with a good solid 20 dart leg, Jon came back firing and took the next 2 legs to draw level at 2-2. The next 2 legs went with throw as both players registering 21 dart legs to set up a nervy deciding leg, and nervy it was with both players missing match darts, eventually Michael Callaghan took the match and the Winmau Classic title for the 2nd time in his BDDA carer.

Semi Finals.

Kurt Vandekerckhove 70.66 ave 4 Michael Callaghan 1. Even though Mike took the first leg, kurt was to get revenge from the day before in dominant fashion with legs of 23 16 22 19 including a 180.

Jon Hirst 67.24 ave 4 Matt Doe 1. Jon stormed into a 2-0 lead before a solid 20 dart leg by Matt got himself back into the game, but serial finalist Jon took the next 2 legs to put himself into yet another final.

Final..

Jon Hirst took the first leg in 20 darts, but even though Jon threw high scoring darts it wasn’t to be as kurt came back in brilliant fashion to take the next 4 legs in 19 17 25 23 to take the Winmau Open 2025.

a total of 9 x 180`s hit over the weekend 2 each for jon arron kurt and Michael and 1 for David.

highest checkout of the weekend went to Baptist with a great 147 out shot.

Thanks to all involved in making this tournament in St Helens a success for the 3rd year running.

Without the committee and the players these tournaments wouldn’t be possible.
