The British Disability Darts Association (BDDA) held its annual tournament weekend at the Spa in Bridlington from 18–20 October, with three prestigious events taking place across the weekend: the British Classic, British Open and BDDA Masters.
Friday – British Classic
The weekend got underway on Friday with the British Classic, featuring round-robin and knockout stages in both the Standing and Wheelchair categories.
There was plenty of quality darts throughout the competition, with Kurt Vandekerckhove producing one of the standout performances of the day by recording a superb 100-plus average in one of his matches.
The Standing final saw Steve North claim the British Classic title after defeating Neil Dudbridge 4–1.
In the Wheelchair competition, Vinnie D’Hondt continued his impressive form, overcoming long-time finals rival Darren Kennish 4–2 to take the title.
Saturday – British Open
Saturday brought the British Open, and once again the standard of darts was excellent throughout the day.
Steve North reached his second final of the weekend, but this time he was unable to complete another title-winning run. Aaron Haley produced the winning performance, defeating North 4–2 to claim the British Open crown.
The Wheelchair final once again featured the familiar pairing of Vinnie D’Hondt and Darren Kennish. In another closely contested encounter, D’Hondt edged out Kennish 4–3 to make it back-to-back Wheelchair titles for the weekend.
Sunday – BDDA Masters
The weekend concluded on Sunday with the BDDA Masters, contested by the highest-ranked players from the 2025/26 season.
Described as the “best of the best”, ( a sort of darts version of Top Gun ) the Masters was played as a straight knockout competition, meaning every match carried added pressure and there was no room for error.
Steve North made it an incredible third final appearance of the weekend, but this time it was Neil Dudbridge who came out on top. Dudbridge turned the tables on North with a convincing 5–1 victory to become the 2025/26 BDDA Master.
In the Wheelchair Masters, Vinnie D’Hondt completed a remarkable weekend by claiming his third title in three days. Once again, Darren Kennish stood in his way, but D’Hondt produced another outstanding performance to win the final 4–1.
Despite the result, Kennish can take plenty of credit for his performance, recording a 73 average in the final. However, he came up against an inspired D’Hondt, who produced an exceptional 85 average to secure the Masters title.
A Weekend to Remember
It was a fantastic three days of competitive darts at the Spa in Bridlington, showcasing the quality and talent across BDDA competition.
Congratulations to all the players who competed throughout the weekend, with special recognition to Vinnie D’Hondt, whose incredible run of three consecutive titles made him one of the standout performers of the event.
