Saturday in Sunny South Wales , saw the Standing and Wheelchair Classic Tournaments involving 17 Standing players and 10 Wheelchair players.
In the standing event there was a lot of tight contests leading to Aaron Haley , Neil Dudbridge, Jon Hirst and Matt Doe reaching the Semi Finals. The script was already written for any headline writer because in the final Neil ( The Cornish Pasty ) rolled over The Doe !!

In The Wheelchair Classic there was some last game jeopardy in the Round Robins before deciding that the Semi Finalists would be Gary Siddons ( The Chairman ) , the actual Chairman, Kevin Stringer, Steve Plimley and Manx Magic Darren Kennish. It proved to be a decent final if you are a fan of a 4 – 0 whitewash to Darren !
Sunday’s Open events were no less dramatic, some really decent averages in the Standing event getting Knocked out, Neil Dudbridge with a 73 average losing to Matt Doe and Callum Brew with a 67 losing to Jon Hirst. The final was a 4-0 to Jon Hirst to make him , I believe, a 3 time consecutive winner of the Welsh Open.

The Wheelchair Open Round Robin , again, threw up some tight games but eventually boiled down to Darren Kennish, Steve Plimley , Kev Stringer reaching the Semi Final along with Amar Dehar. In the Final Darren Kennish was just too strong for The Pensioner Plimley but no whitewash this time as the score ended up 4-1.

Great weekend, thanks for all the supporters, sponsors and venue. It all went so smoothly that we managed to finish in daylight !
