In a bold move to inject some chaos and comedy into our usual Friday warm-up event (before the seriousness of the Chelmsford Ranking Weekend), we said goodbye to tradition and hello to mayhem.
Yes folks, we went full WWE.
Enter: The BDDA Royal Rumble.
For those unfamiliar with wrestling – first, how dare you. Second, here’s the lowdown:
Two players (drawn randomly from a hat – or possibly a pint glass, we’re not proud) start the first game. Winner stays on. Another random player steps up to the oche. This continues until the final challenger steps in, fists clenched, game face on. It’s darts. It’s drama. It’s barely legal entertainment.
The last person standing!!! , figuratively speaking, wins the trophy. Or in our case, a wrestling-style belt that definitely wasn’t purchased off eBay at 2am after one too many ciders.
The evening began with a clash for the ages:
Vinnie “Welcome to the Jungle” Vince vs Ray “I Predict a Riot” Duckett.
Fast forward two hours, several heroic legs, and more one-liners than a darts pub league Christmas party — we arrived at the final showdown:

Adam “Cult of Personality” Doe
vs
Nathan “Monster” Butler (or as we now call him, The Beast )
Despite only throwing approximately 35 darts over the whole evening (we counted, sort of), one man rose from the metaphorical ashes — or at least from his seat at the back of the room.
Ladies and gentlemen, your first-ever BDDA Royal Rumble Champion…
🥁🥁🥁
Nathan “The Beast” Butler! 🏆💪
Quality night, lots of laughter and a great way to warm up for serious competitions of the weekend
